AANZ Current Officers

The current AANZ Executive Committee was elected in December 2018. Comprised predominantly of young Afghans – most of who studied in New Zealand – the long-term goal of this young and dynamic team is to establish an efficient, transparent and accountable system for community service delivery, and in the process, become a model community organisation in New Zealand.

Abdul Sattar Ahmadzai
Abdul Sattar Ahmadzai
Role: Chairperson
Education: Bachelor Political Science and International Relations
About: Ahmadzai has significant experience in management, administration monitoring and journalism. His experience will bring fundamental reforms, transparency and accountability to AANZ. Being a senior member of AANZ, with his background and experience in community relations, cultural affairs and educational projects, Ahmadzai will advise and assist the younger EC members in all AANZ programs. Ahmadzai is multi-lingual and has excellent verbal and written skills in Pashto, Persian/Dari, Urdu, Arabic and English.

Zab Dost
Zab Dost
Role: Special Projects Coordinator
Education: BE (Chemical & Materials) the University of Auckland, Dip Env Tech (Unitec).
About: Zab is a consultant engineer and works with both local and central government organisations in the fields of Engineering and Public Health. Zab’s vision is to help AANZ become an accountable community organisation and to help new Afghans adapt and become active members of the wider New Zealand society.

Ismail Wardak
Ismail Wardak
Role: Treasurer
Education: Masters of Engineering (Hon) from the University of Auckland.
Ismail is currently working as a structural engineer. Ismail also teaches structural engineering at Unitec.
About: Ismail’s vision is to help AANZ become a transparent and accountable community organisation in New Zealand. Ismail also coaches younger Afghans to enter into professional careers in New Zealand.

Zahid Hamid
Zahid Hamid
Role: Secretary and Communication Officer
Education: Masters of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Auckland.
Zahid is currently working as a structural engineer and is a lecture at Unitec.
About: Zahid’s vision is to help AANZ become an accountable and transparent community organisation in New Zealand. Zahid works very hard to help new Afghans adapt and become active members of the wider New Zealand society.

Mostafa Sadat
Mostafa Sadat
Role: IT/Webmaster
Education: Bachelor of Computing Systems
About: Mostafa is a professional Computer Systems Engineer and AANZ’s Webmaster/IT advisor. Mostafa’s vision is to help unite Afghans, and to promote Afghan cultural values within the Afghan community as well as drive AANZ from technology a point of view to help Afghan New Zealanders adapt, assimilate and become active members of the wider New Zealand society and economy.
